A Data Science Lead is required on a permanent by CareerWise Recruitment for our Dublin-based multinational bio-pharmaceutical animal health client. Seeking an experienced and driven Data Science Leader to manage the data science function and lead a team of data scientists in developing, implementing and maintaining data-driven solutions that will fuel company growth and deliver value to customers and stakeholders. The Data Science Leader will be responsible for overseeing the Animal Data Science team, managing projects, providing technical leadership and collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure the development of successful data products. Your job will be to build and manage a diverse, global team of Data Scientists that will be working with a uniquely diverse set of information comprised of DNA analytics and data coming from a variety of connected technologies and data partnerships across the value chain. Your role will be to support both Data Monetization and Technology solutions creating valuable insights and findings, and translating those insights into value for customers and the company. The results of your work will inform product improvements that reach a variety of customers including producers, pet owners, vets, and other stakeholders across the value chain, enabling the success of a multi-billion dollar roadmap. The Global Animal Data Science lead will manage a pipeline of digital and technological products that will create value by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of company products as well as creating impactful ROI for customers, ultimately accelerating adoption of company solutions and products. In order to achieve this goal, you will lead a centralized Data Science team as well as Data Scientists within each Innovation COE species, working in close relation with both digital and technological development teams. To help achieve the goal, it will be necessary to attract and hire top talent, mentor the team to think outside the box in terms of monetization strategy while incorporating the latest data science and statistical techniques to help drive the future of the innovative products we create. You will be a critical leader in achieving the company vision of creating more than $1 billion in value from data products. THE ROLE: * Act as global lead for the team of Animal Data Science, managing and leading data science teams in developing, implementing and maintaining data-driven solutions that support business goals. * Discover and define complex analytics projects working with Technology, DNA and IT teams to propose and execute the right analytical approach/methodology on each species and across various species. * The project definition could include ROI, high-level and detailed project plan, level of effort, data needs, infrastructure, gap analysis, etc. for successful delivery. * Define and implement proper ML/AI Ops models for best outcomes in Animal Data space, cooperating and exchanging with technology AI teams to ensure the maximum return out of available information. * Develop A/B testing framework and quality models to accelerate data driven innovation. * Manages a diverse group of 10+ data scientists sitting in various teams and projects, drives professional as well as personal development of subordinates to help them growth their expertise and career within the Company to maximize the value they deliver to the business. Is responsible for high quality delivery of the team. * Builds a "community of practice" leveraging experience from delivering complex analytics projects, functionally/technically mentors more junior colleagues while contributing to build a strong skilled team of advanced analytic scientists. * Develops repeatable best practices with respect to project delivery and a platform approach towards producing insightful analytics, feeding the use case pipeline, through to the productionalization of the ML models. * Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria. * Promote a culture of modelling and analytics as a differentiator and competitive advantage. * Understands stakeholders', including customers, business needs/priorities and helps build solutions that support Company's business goals. Establishes and manages the close relationship with customers/stakeholders. * Has overview of the Data Science market development to be able to ideate and explore new ways of delivering analytics solutions to increase value/contribution. * Highly efficient communicator to support the business and provide the teams with necessary insights from both a data analytics as well as a business perspective to build appreciation for the quantitative tools and analyses and to drive organizational buy in on a journey from descriptive to predictive analytics. * Ability to explain complex outcomes and technical data science techniques to non-technical cohorts. * Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business and design / implement solutions to meet these needs to best support category teams and business analytics. * Work closely with Animal Data lead for the definition of data quality, policy and stewardship to ensure best efficiency for Data Science community. * Work closely with Data monetization lead as well as marketing teams, IT, DNA and Technology R&D to develop roadmap to support the overall technology and data strategy. * Lead, manage and mentor multiple teams, and develop processes to deliver detailed roadmap and requirements that address customer needs. * Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action. Requirements. * Degree or advanced degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, or computer science or related fields; PhD preferred. * Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms multi-method modelling and simulation, optimization; economic decision analysis; ML/AI algorithm development, data integration, mining, and visualization of complex data. * Experience with data science tools and technologies, including data visualization solutions (e.g., Python, R, Tableau. * While this is not a hands-on coding / development role, prior experience to help with code reviews, recommending python packages, and coding best practices is a plus. * Strong digital skills with proven experience in leading product innovation roles. * Strong knowledge of the most advanced Data Science tools and applications. * At least 7 years of experience in managing complex analytical projects, with at least 3 years in life science space. * Experience in managing a roadmap process with multidisciplinary teams. * Experience managing a global team. * Proven record of conceptualizing and delivering advanced insights via digital or technology solution to drive sales and entries into new markets. * Strategic mind-set with a passion for data driven decision making and user experience. * Excellent communications skills with customer-centric approach. * Fluent in English, other European languages are an advantage. * Experience working in a corporate environment with well-defined work methodologies. * Strong background in cloud computing architecture and infrastructure. * Experience working with medical device manufacturer or other healthcare industry experience.
