The Office of Public Works (OPW) is responsible for the conservation, restoration, management and presentation of key elements of the State's portfolio of historic parks, gardens, great houses and estates, and cultural landscapes.   The National Botanic Gardens, based in Glasnevin, Dublin is Ireland’s leading botanical and horticultural institution, which cultivates a comprehensive collection of plants for scientific research, conservation, education and display. The library is an important and valuable collection of botanical and horticultural books and periodicals, as well as a substantial art collection and archive.    Reporting to the Director of the National Botanic Gardens, the Assistant Librarian will be responsible for managing and maintaining the library at the National Botanic Gardens. Their key responsibilities will include cataloguing, classification and indexing of publications, manuscripts, art originals etc and the management of periodicals.   Candidates must have: • A qualification (at minimum level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Librarianship and/or Information Science; • A minimum of one year’s relevant post qualification experience in the management of a Library Collection; • Excellent report writing skills, with an ability to draft documents for future publication.   We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.
