Description

This is a a great new opportunity in an expanding manufacturing company for a materials planner to join the team in this key role. Your Duties & Responsibilities would include the following : - Timely, cost-conscious procurement of production/inventory/MRO items. Receive & analyse requisitions for quantity, specifications & delivery requirements. Use approved supplier list, recommend & select new. On-board new suppliers for material planning; classifying & ensure optimal & safe inventory for their parts. Maintain proactive shortage identification; flag root causes & corrective actions. Analyse & select parts for Kanban & Supplier replenishment. Identify total cost & cash flow opportunities & resolve invoicing problems with suppliers & accounting. Coordinate with QA to resolve quality issues & liaise when parts delayed. Expedite deliveries to meet & exceed scheduled critical requirements. Continuously evaluate supplier performance & escalate to Procurement when issues occur. Analyse material & capacity availability to provide customer promise dates for sales orders. Communicate forecasts & replenishment plans to supplier. Review open requirements, monitoring vendor performance. Ensure problems relating to delivery, quality or pricing conveyed to supplier & resolved quickly. Productivity: identify & implement cost reduction/productivity projects to meet g. Keep pipeline & financial records for reporting & tracking productivity. Have product knowledge in terms of critical functions/components, etc. Know material spec & substitutions, quality, engineering requirements, etc. Have knowledge of supplier processes & capabilities; test/witness certification & actions to achieve certification. Deliver good customer service delivery for both int/ext. stakeholders. Exp. & Skills Required: Degree or 5+ years of Planning/Buying in a manufacturing setting. APICS (CPIM) or equivalent cert. ideally. Ideally knowledge of industry related supplies. Be skilled in production & supplier scheduling, processes & capabilities. Understand Kanban & JIT systems & ISO procedures. in ops., inventory mgmt., MRP & lean manufacturing processes. Strong on ERPs & Microsoft Office applications & basic mathematical skills. Bring manufacturing experience; attention to detail; self-motivation & enjoy a fast-paced, multi-tasking. Strong communicator at all levels who is team oriented and will work well with their suppliers. An excellent salary and benefits package is available for the successful candidate.
