Description

The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform’s mission is to serve the public interest through sound governance of public expenditure and by leading and enabling reform across the Civil and Public Service.   Reporting to the Secretary General, the Assistant Secretary will manage the Public Service Reform and Delivery Division.  S/he will have responsibility for developing, driving, co-ordinating, supporting and evaluating the Government’s programme of Public Service Reform and Innovation and Civil Service Renewal, and for legislative and other Government reform commitments to promote and support open, accountable and transparent government. The person appointed will be expected to provide leadership across all aspects of the reform and wider corporate agenda.   The successful candidate will have: • A proven record of accomplishment as a leader and senior manager leading teams in a large or complex organisation; • Experience in design and development of effective communications approaches and plans to support and enable transformation programmes; • An appreciation of the fiscal, legislative and industrial relations context in which reform is to be delivered; • The ability to analyse and evaluate complex policy, economic and financial information and have the capacity to present options for decision making; • An ability to engage with Government and the political system at the highest levels.   This is a Top Level Appointments Committee (TLAC) position.
