Head of Marketing Reporting to: Commercial Director, Commercial Revenue Unit (CRU. Trinity Brand Commercial Services Limited. TBCSL is a separate subsidiary established by Trinity College Dublin. TBCSL maximises international sales from Trinity College branded merchandise.  The objective of the organisation is to enhance the capability, commercial acumen, agility and focus to capture and optimise the opportunity associated with the Trinity College Dublin brand on the international stage. TBCSL supports TCD Commercial Revenue Unit (CRU) business portfolio with the delivery of commercial strategies across its Business Units.  CRU comprises several business units (BUs). These BUs span the Accommodation, Catering, Commercial Property, Visitor Attractions (Book or Kells/Long Room), Retail (domestic and international), Branding, Events/Conferencing and Sponsorship.    The Role. TBCSL is seeking to recruit an experienced and commercially strong Head of Marketing. This position will report to the Commercial Director and will be based in Dublin. The role will be responsible for the Marketing functions of both the CRU and TBCSL.  The Head of Marketing will have the ability, commitment and vision to play an instrumental role in supporting the delivery of; CRU strategic projects, drive for operational excellence and continued strong profitable growth across the business. While the Head of Marketing will be employed directly by TBCSL, the role will be also be responsible for the marketing requirements of Trinity College Dublin’s Commercial Revenue Unit (CRU). The CRU comprises several business units (BUs). These BUs span the Accommodation, Catering, Commercial Property, Visitor Attractions, Retail, Events/Conferencing and Retail sectors both domestic and international and Branding and Sponsorship.  To this end the Head of Marketing  will also be responsible for the marketing affairs of the BUs referred to above.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsibilities. The position carries full responsibility for all aspects of the marketing function. Key focus areas will be: To develop, drive and implement a customer centric marketing strategy that reflects and evolves our premium brand positioning and meets business goals. Develop and manage an innovative target-driven sales and marketing strategy to support the following commercial business units - Book of Kells and Old Library Exhibition, Accommodation, Trinity Trails, Catering, Events and Conferencing activities. Manage the marketing budget and ensure appropriate return on investment. Develop and implement a digital, web and social media strategy to support Trinity’s commercial forecasts. Effective project management, project delivery and project implementation for a diverse programme of high-profile marketing and digital projects. Provide professional marketing, promotional and advertising advice to colleagues to support commercial objectives. Develop excellent relationships with key internal and external contacts to achieve revenue targets. Conduct market research and analysis of stakeholder experience and review Trinity’s strategic situation in relation to its competitors. Forecasting, measuring, analysing and reporting on the impact of digital campaigns, interpret the data and deliver insights for decision making. Conducting competitor and market analysis, determining the marketing strategy and measuring its effectiveness. Develop and manage initiatives to support the College’s commercialisation objectives. Drive new commercial revenue streams. Support the preparation of reports on the commercial strategy.  Liaise directly with the Communications and Marketing Office in Trinity to support the creation and adoption of central Trinity messaging, positioning and campaigns, as appropriate. Work with Finance and business units to set the overall budget and work with those departments to ensure volume and value targets are delivered. Manage the marketing team with responsibility for formal objective setting, reviews and performance management and development. Manage third party agency relationships. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Key skills/experience and personal characteristics required. At minimum a degree in marketing or a related discipline. Substantial professional experience (minimum of 7 years) within a marketing role at a senior level in tourism, hospitality, retail and/or education environment. Strong multi-channel marketing expertise - PR, CRM, creative, content, social and online. Ability to use multi-channel platforms to attract new customers and increase average spend of existing customers. Significant record of success in formulating, managing and delivering marketing strategies to exceed revenue targets with demonstrable results. Experience in marketing of services and of complex organisations. Proven ability to deliver marketing strategies to both domestic and international markets. Proven brand management experience. Proven organisational skills to function with a high level of autonomy and flexibility. Sponsorship & partner management. Solid experience in delivering results across a broad spectrum of digital channels, to include SEO, Display, Social, Email, Paid Media, etc. Strategic and commercially savvy. Proven leadership and consensus building skills. Excellent reporting & presentation skills with demonstrable experience of presenting to key stakeholders. Budget management experience. Competencies  Excellent networking, teamwork, negotiation, and interpersonal/diplomatic skills with ability to work effectively with multi stakeholders to achieve a common goal. Effective team leader with proven track record of developing and leading teams. To be energetic, entrepreneurial and hands on, with a reputation for getting things done. Very strong commercial acumen with the ability to contribute directly to the overall business strategy and work with members of the senior management team on their functional commercial issues. Solid understanding and interest in all aspects of the marketing and tourism industry landscape. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to deal with complex matrix organisation and stakeholder map. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  Strong public speaker and good front of house skills.
