West Cork Development Partnership. is recruiting for. 2 Rural Recreation Officers (Walking. West Cork Development Partnership is a community based rural development company operating in West Cork. The company wishes to invite applications for the positions of Rural Recreation Officer with responsibility for co-ordinating, maintenance and management of walking trails, and assisting with marketing and promotion of walking in the company’s area of operation. The Rural Recreational Officers will administer, manage and deliver the Walks Scheme on the Sheeps Head and the Beara Way respectively.  The Rural Recreational Officer will also be involved in the implementation of the National Countryside Recreation strategy. The Rural Recreational Officers will have responsibility of working with a broad range of stakeholders, will support the development, enhancement and maintenance of outdoor recreation infrastructure in west Cork. The following are essential requirements to fulfil the role of Rural Recreational Officer: Hold a relevant third level qualification (Outdoor Education/Recreation, Tourism/Recreation or Rural/Community Development or a related field) and a minimum of 2 years’ experience OR have 5 years’ experience in a relevant field. Knowledge of GPS, map reading, route planning and navigation. Excellent Computer Skills, knowledge of GIS applications such as ArcGIS is desirable. Experience of managing and sourcing funding. Knowledge of and interest in countryside recreation and trails, and/or trail development, upgrade and upkeep. Knowledge of, and interest in walking route management and promotion. Understanding of the needs of tourists and the tourism industry. Experience in rural/community development work. A flexible approach to working hours. Willingness to undertake training in areas relevant to the post. A good communicator, A full clean driving licence and own transport.
