A unique role if you love R&D & managing a diversified team specialising in concept design for off/onshore transmission technology. Your team will be specialists in the areas of : - Materials' science, Mech & structural design, Electrical systems & control, Thermo & fluid dynamics, cryogenics & refrigeration, adv. manuf, marine Eng. & ops, Life-cycle mgt. & reliability. The primary function of this role is to lead the R&D in the generation of tech. at fundamental stage research through to design concept, prototyping & testing. Key Responsibilities. An Engineering lead who enjoys delivering complex, multidisciplinary systems driving innovation, product generations & high-value IP. A strategist, driving structure & programs to efficiently deliver cutting-edge innovation with CTO & team. Lead a team of talented R&D Eng.'s generating new solutions concepts & driving excellence. R&D tech. landscaping & IP portfolio & report on IP strategy, dev., & mgt. Liaising with academia & industry on research. Conduct design/concept reviews, R&D test programs & plans. Providing tech. oversight & scrutiny to X-functional Eng. R&D & tech. outputs - check, review & approve plans, protocols, calculations & specs. Identifying new tech., strategic partners, vendors, source new materials, components & equipment as required. Leading implementation of test & verification programs to deliver R&D milestones. Generating, reviewing & assessing tech. files, func reqs, product specs, drawings, BOMs & design documentation. Analysing, dev., & presenting tech. proposals, presentations & reports & help with managing suppliers, contractors, academics & clients. Exp. & Skills required. Hons Degree in Eng., (Mech/Process/Structural/Electrical/Systems etc.). Eng.exp. in Product R&D of circa 10 years, with 5 years in a leadership role. Analytical skills for fundamental Eng. R&D Innovative concept dev., Lead R&D to solve complex challenges & delivering qualified tech. to commercialisation. Proven strength in Eng. R&D across Eng. disciplines. Risk assessments & risk mitigation programs & managing IP. Strong interpersonal, & relationship mgt. skills. Ideally exp. with R&D at low to high TRL delivery, in an OEM industry setting using applied Systems Eng. methodologies. Exp. With DNVGL STDs. Or in Offshore Renewables & Energy Sector welcomed.
