JOB TITLE: Data & Insights Research Lead GRADE: £42,685 - £45,218 per annum (Manager A Scale) REPORTS TO: Strategy & Policy Director SUMMARY OF JOB: As Data and Insights Research Lead you will build on our research programme success and provide insights to operational colleagues and key stakeholders. You will play a crucial part in shaping the organisations policy work, areas of investment needs and opportunities for growth. You will plan and schedule research activities and projects, ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality and find ways to improve the pace of our data structures.  KEY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: • Liaise with government departments and key stakeholders to deliver a research programme and data driven insights to support the development of opportunities for cross-border trade and innovation growth. • Work closely with and support colleagues across InterTradeIreland by contributing to shaping the organisation’s policy work through research, data and insight contributions. • Plan and schedule research activities and projects, ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality and with policy or operational relevance. • Continually improve InterTradeIreland’s data structures to enable data analysis at pace.  • Responsibility for the publication of research reports and trade data.  • Engage with a wide range of external stakeholders to assist in the understanding of the cross-border market environment, highlighting the opportunities and to keep the cross-border market competitive.  • Develop insights based on research and data from across the organisation. Share this information and expertise willingly, with authority and persuasiveness. • Any other duties as required by line manager. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: • A third level qualification, or equivalent, that includes business or economics modules. • Experience of carrying out research projects, to include researching, collating and analysing information/data and producing into written reports/findings. • Experience of disseminating research outcomes through in person/online conference presentations (or similar events), or in any form of publication / report, to both expert and non-expert audiences. • Strong quantitative analysis skills and evidence of using IT/digital tools in a data/research context (i.e. use of data analysis packages).  • Demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication skills with evidence of an ability to engage and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. • Demonstrate a strong interest in current economic affairs and how they affect trade and business on the island, and an understanding of the reasoning behind key organisational and governmental economic policies, practices and procedures. • Ability to establish a network of key external contacts and develop effective working relationships with them. • Experience of effectively managing and motivating a team to develop their skills and knowledge base. DESIRABLE CRITERIA: • Postgraduate qualification that includes business or economics modules. • Experience within the last five years of conducting research in economic policy OR enterprise/business research.
