Director of Research About The Institute of International and European Affairs The Institute of International and European Affairs is Ireland’s leading international affairs think tank. They are an independent, not-for-profit organisation with charitable status. Their aim is to provide a forum for all those interested in EU and International affairs to engage in debate and discussion, and to evaluate and share policy options. Their extensive research and events programmes provide members with policy insights, analysis and context to help shape vital decisions about Ireland’s strategic direction and future. The IIEA’s role is to identify key European and international trends and priorities, which will inform the work of Ireland’s decision makers and business leaders and enrich the public debate on Ireland’s role in the EU and on the global stage. About the Role. The IIEA is looking to appoint a Director of Research to oversee the organisation’s research department and develop the research strategy in the context of the Institute’s overall strategic goals, taking account of developments at national, EU and international level. The primary focus for this role will be European and international affairs focusing on European foreign and security policy, climate change and environment, EU economic challenges and priorities, digital and UN issues. To succeed in this role, the post holder must have deep knowledge of EU and international policy across a range of policy areas. You will also need to be very familiar with Irish policy issues and where they stand in the EU and international context. A minimum of a Master’s degree ideally in the area of public policy/international affairs is essential, as well as a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the area, and a proven ability to articulate, manage and undertake high quality research in these fields. The post holder will need to be highly responsive to the fast-changing global and EU policy environment and capable of thinking strategically as to how to consistently translate or combine ideas into project proposals. A proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and mentor the Research Team are also essential for the position. How to Apply.
