Leading Life and Pensions Group in Dublin have a permanent opportunity available for a Head of Underwriting, leading a successful and high performing team of experienced Underwriters. This position is currently fully remote working with a future hybrid of remote and office based. Competitive salary and benefit package for the successful candidate. The Head of Underwriting role is a Pre-Approved Controlled Function PCF18 by the Central Bank of Ireland. Key areas of responsibility; Direct the underwriting function through development and oversight of the underwriting philosophy and ensure regular data analysis provided to reflect the risk appetite of the business. Provide leadership excellence and be responsible for the development, engagement and management of the Underwriting Team. Deliver technical expertise and innovation for product development and claims determination. Provide and deliver strategic ideas that understands medium term market and external environment to continually enhance our market proposition, particularly in underwriting value including harnessing advancements in technology. Creates and leads service excellence and operating efficiency initiatives drives service and operating efficiency's to support the business plan targets. Strong profile in the market including engagement and relationship handling with external stakeholders including, but not limited to, industry bodies, reinsurers, medical experts, service providers, regulators and to ensure our interests are fully aligned. Create and deliver a first-class underwriting value proposition that benchmarks strongly in the market and secures competitive advantage, including reinsurance price discounts due to underwriting assurance and receiving consistent accolades from brokers on the underwriting service model. Qualifications and Experience. Significant Underwriting experience at senior level in the Life sector. Possess life and disability underwriting qualification, preferably Diploma in Medical Underwriting. Detailed knowledge of medical terms, phraseology and abbreviations. Detailed knowledge and experience of financial underwriting. Up to date knowledge of current medical underwriting developments/trends/issues. Excellent knowledge of the market with the ability to make commercial decisions where appropriate.
