Commissioner (Full time) – Law Reform Commission Office of the Attorney General The Law Reform Commission is a statutory body, established by the Law Reform Commission Act 1975, which is required to keep the law under review and to conduct research with a view to reforming the law.  Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for nomination by the Government to the above post. Applicants are requested to provide a CV and a written presentation (not exceeding 1500 words) describing the extent and nature of the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the post and the reasons why the applicant is interested in being appointed as a Commissioner.  Required Qualifications and Experience  As required pursuant to Section 3 (7) of the Act of 1975, potential candidates must possess suitable qualifications in law, whether by virtue of practice as a barrister or solicitor or as a teacher of law. Experience and, if possible a proven record, in communicating complex legal issues effectively, in published writings or by way of public presentations or, preferably, both. Experience which demonstrates the leadership and management skills to lead a highly skilled and professional staff in the effective conclusion and delivery of quality outputs. Experience in the analysis and review of complex legal information and issues, and the ability to propose workable and effective proposals for the reform of law. The ability to establish and maintain positive and professional collegiate working relationship with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience in the effective management of staff and finances. The appointment is to an unestablished post on a five year fixed term contract in the Law Reform Commission. The Commissioner (Full time) post is remunerated at Assistant Secretary Level.
