The Office of Public Works (OPW) has responsibility for the design and supervision of the construction of new buildings required for Government Departments including offices, Garda stations, prisons, social welfare centres and cultural centres. It is also responsible for the design and fitting out of Government office accommodation, the maintenance of Government buildings and the conservation, restoration and care of heritage buildings owned and occupied by the State. The OPW is also the lead State body for the coordination and implementation of Government policy on the management of flood risk in Ireland.   Its Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Section is responsible for the design and maintenance of building services in existing and new buildings for Government Departments and other State organisations.   Reporting to an Engineer Grade II, the Engineer Grade III (Mechanical & Electrical) will be responsible for the design of mechanical and electrical building services, the preparation of contract documents and the supervision of work on-site.   Successful candidates must hold a minimum Level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering accredited by Engineers Ireland.   We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.
