The European Union has launched an open call for expressions of interest for Contract Staff with experience in proofreading and language editing (grade FG III).    Recruited staff at grade FG III will mainly work on: • Proofreading texts in terms of spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting typography, clarity. • Preparing and checking proofs for publication in various formats and media. • Preparing manuscripts in terms of spelling, grammar and syntax, and checking texts for their coherence and uniformity. • Checking compliance with stylistic conventions and rules, and the compliance of the texts with the EU Inter-institutional Style Guide. • Preparing the Institutions’ documents for publication and finalising texts in typographical terms. • Carrying out other language related tasks (e.g. moderation of content of website pages and transcription.   Before applying, you should read the Call for Expressions of Interest and ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements specified in this document: Applicants must Register / Create an EPSO Account and then apply online: Candidates must choose a first language (language 1) from among all 24 official languages of the European Union, and a second language (language 2), different from the first one, from among English, French, and German.   Please make sure that the language 1 chosen for the reasoning tests is your target language (i.e. Irish if you are an Irish-language proofreader, English if you are an English-language proofreader, etc.).   Online applications must be submitted in the candidates' second language.   To indicate your on-going interest in this procedure you must update your application at least once every 6 months.
