Independent Chairs – Women’s Football Strategy Committee. and National Leagues Committee. The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for association football in the Republic of Ireland. The FAI has primary responsibility for all regulatory aspects of the game of football in the Irish Republic. The Board of the FAI has recently established a number of Football Committees including the Women’s Football Strategy Committee and the National Leagues Committee. The Women’s Football Strategy Committee has been established to support the FAI in its responsibilities for the promotion and administration of women’s football. The purpose of the National Leagues Committee is to support the FAI in its responsibilities for the promotion and administration of professional and elite level adult football defined as football played in the League of Ireland and Women’s National League. The FAI is now seeking to appoint an Independent Chair of the Women’s Football Strategy Committee and an Independent Chair of the National Leagues Committee. All candidates will demonstrate excellent leadership and influencing skills, ideally with previous experience as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Expertise and experience in the following areas is also required: Independent Chair – Women’s Football Strategy Committee. Leading the integration of women into sporting activities at every level and function including playing, coaching, refereeing and administration. Independent Chair – National Leagues Committee. Significant experience of and knowledge about the operation of elite Sports Leagues. The responsibilities of the Women’s Football Strategy Committee include: Advising on measures to better promote and administer women’s football at International, National League, Amateur and Youth and Underage level. Providing a forum for the exchange of views on current women’s football topics. Leading the development of education, training and development programmes to identify and nurture talented women players, coaches, referees and administrators and so accelerate their progress towards leadership positions in the Association and in the wider game. The responsibilities of the National Leagues Committee include: Managing and controlling the FAI National League competitions in accordance with the terms of the Participation Agreement signed between the FAI and each Participant Club and subject to the direction and approval of the Board. Ensuring the Participation Agreement and its infrastructure supports the overall aims of the FAI (as the promoter of the competition and governing authority for the sport. Organising annual League Competitions for Participant Clubs and annual cup competitions, inter-league competitions, football matches and other national competitions as may be deemed appropriate by the Board.
