Description

Procurement Specialist - North Dublin. Our client seeks a Procurement Specialist to join its Procurement Team. This is a great opportunity to work in a leading manufacturing facility with a diverse supply base covering a wide range of commodities, such as; Plastics, PCBA, Metal Machining & Fabrication, Optics, Fluidics, Pneumatics and Cables. The successful candidate will join a group of experienced Procurement professionals and report to the Head of Procurement. We are looking for candidates with the ability to contribute both operationally and strategically to the development of the Direct Materials supply base to meet the challenging and evolving needs of the manufacturing site. Candidates must have the ability to think strategically in terms of supply base performance and development and drive a continuous improvement agenda. Key Responsibilities of the role include : • In line with SAP requirements, perform a "Strategic Buyer" role; reviewing and approving supplier part price increases; reviewing and releasing PO's and invoices with PPV costs; overseeing the GR/IR file, resolving major issues; maintaining Scheduling Agreement updates/changes, and maintaining the integrity of the purchasing master price files (PIR's) in a compliant manner, through periodic audit/review. • Advance the development of the supply base through supplier consolidation/reduction activities and pooling toward Strategic Sources. Work with the Strategic Procurement group to identify and implement changes in the supply base to reduce costs, improve performance and optimise part/supplier sourcing alignments. • Work with the Procurement team, and other key cross-functional groups, to drive best practices in Procurement and Supplier Management within the site. Taking the site lead on implementation of Corporate Procurement Best Practice initiatives. • Identify and realise cost reduction opportunities to support the site Productivity program. Project manage, in conjunction with the respective Buyers and other functional leads, major part resourcing activities to ensure maximum cost savings, while assuring continuity of supply. Always promote a ‘total cost of ownership’ approach. • Support the annual FY Budget routine with material cost bridging, ensuring accurate material costs and PPV forecasts. Support monthly PPV reporting process with Finance. • Participate in supplier evaluation and approval exercises – including New Supplier On-boarding. Represent the site for the annual SCM Star Supplier evaluation process, compiling data-based supplier assessments for submission. • Support significant issue resolution programs with suppliers, including other relevant functions in the process. Utilise structured problem-solving techniques (e.g. A3) to ensure root causes are addressed and corrective actions are effective. • Identify supplier risk situations and work with site functions and Strategic Procurement to develop and implement risk mitigations strategies, up to and including alternate sources. Manage supply risk associated with Obsolescence and End-of-Life. • Initiate Contract Agreements and NDA's where required to protect the company's interests. Prepare for negotiations and work closely with Strategic Procurement to ensure that site concerns are covered in negotiated Supply Agreements. • Collaborate with other manufacturing sites involved in manufacturing to agree a standardised approach for managing the supply base in a consistent way. Interested applicants should have : • Broad knowledge of leading supply chain management practices and techniques. Excellent working knowledge of leading procurement tools, processes, methods and reporting techniques. • Ability to build strong and influential business relationships with suppliers to achieve business objectives. Capable of taking a progressive and broad-based approach to supplier relationship management. • Excellent problem solving, planning and analytical skills. Possess ability to collate and analyse large amounts of data in a methodical and structured manner. • Strong Project Management skills and the ability to initiate and lead supplier improvement/optimisation projects on a cross-functional basis to completion. • Proven lead negotiation and influencing skills with suppliers. Strong financial and cost analysis skills. • Excellent oral communications, business writing skills, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to conduct and lead meetings effectively. • Dynamic team player that can lead effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams. Strong in terms of decision making and follow-through. • Ability to interact with and influence supplier decisions at a Strategic Procurement level. Experience of implementing Commodity strategies. Education and Experience requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related Science discipline. • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience within a Procurement function, preferably in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment. • Thorough working knowledge of and experience of using leading Procurement Tools, Methods, Processes & Reports in a manufacturing environment. • Broad-based commodity experience in terms of suppliers, materials and manufacturing processes. • Experience of working within a Commodity Management environment with track record of influencing supplier selection decisions. • Experience of dealing with a broad range of supplier organisations across Asia, Europe and the USA desirable. • Experience of working at a cross-functional level within a multi-site manufacturing network environment.
