The Dublin District Coroner is an independent official with responsibility for the medico-legal investigation of sudden, unexplained, violent and unnatural deaths. The Dublin District Coroner’s Office receives up to 5,500 reported deaths per annum and directs approximately 2,000 post mortems per annum. In excess of 600 post mortem examinations, both forensic and non-forensic, are performed in the City Mortuary located in Griffith Avenue, Whitehall, Dublin 9. The Junior Anatomical Pathology Technician role is varied and involves assisting in post mortems, both forensic and non-forensic, maintenance of equipment and premises from a hygiene and safety point of view and interacting with a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate must hold a Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technician) or equivalent qualification, and 3 years’ experience working as an Anatomical Pathology Technician in a mortuary environment.
