Dublin City Council provides a diverse, multi-layered and evolving range of services to both citizens and visitors to Dublin which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, roads and traffic, leisure and community services. The Quantity Surveyors Division, within the Housing and Community Services Department, has a wide-ranging role in advising upon and fi nancially managing the City Council’s construction programme, from inception to final completion, on a varied range of new build, refurbishment and maintenance projects in the residential, commercial, leisure and municipal sectors. An opportunity now exists in Dublin City Council for the role of Chief Quantity Surveyor. The Chief Quantity Surveyor provides advice to the City Council on all quantity surveying matters in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive, best practice, quantity surveying service. S/he manages and leads their functional areas in a strategic manner, has responsibility for the effective management on a day to day basis of the staff of the Quantity Surveyors Division and will work collaboratively with other City Council Departments, Government Departments and external agencies to produce economic, effective and timely solutions to organisational challenges. The successful candidate will: • Have passed, or be exempt from the Final Examination of the Society of Chartered Surveyors/Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Quantity Surveying Divisions) or hold an equivalent professional qualification; • After attaining the degree or qualification referred to above, have at least nine years satisfactory experience of quantity surveying work including for a period of not less than six years, satisfactory experience of quantity surveying in a responsible capacity.
