The Business Development (BD) Manager is fully responsible for the business development activities of the organisation across all services. The BD manager will develop strategies aimed at driving new sales - for the company across multiple sectors and geographies. This position will play a key role in contributing to the companies profitability. Having a detailed understanding of the facilities management market and competitors is key. As a Business Development Manager, your duties will address the following key areas of responsibility: • Responsible for the overall management of all strategic and operational Marketing and Customer Relationship activities. • Continually developing the brand and building increasing awareness in the market place. • Provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, and prospect needs. • Generating and seeking out potential new opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services. • Developing and managing relationships with potential clients, influencers and key stakeholders. • Take ownership of the management of the sales, bids and marketing functions. • Participating in new business contract negotiations. • Drive increased revenue and profit to achieve the Company`s ambitious growth. • Working to stringent targets, the job holder will be required to adopt a professional and knowledgeable approach to each new business call. • Planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets. • Monitoring competitors and reviewing the offerings in light of competitors developments. • Ensure staff are on board throughout the organisation and understand the need for change and what is required of them. • Attend and present at seminars, conferences and events where appropriate. • Development of a CRM system that is fit for purpose. • Develop a suite of KPI’s for presentation at monthly management meetings. • Coordinate specialist resources within to assist with Business Development (as required. • Manage the role of Bid Manager. • Developing and managing relationships with potential suppliers and exploring cost model options. • Keeping abreast of new technology appropriate to the sector. It is expected that the successful candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes: • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role. • Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions. • Experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment is essential. • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully winning new business. • Proven track record of increasing revenue and profitability through generation of new leads. • Experience in managing direct reports.
