JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Legal Services Regulatory Authority, the LSRA, was established under the Legal Services Regulation Act, 2015 (“the Act”) as the new and independent statutory body responsible for the regulation of the provision of legal services by legal practitioners (both solicitors and barristers) and for ensuring the maintenance and improvement of standards in the provision of such services in the State. The Head of the Legal Services, Levy and Registration Department will be a skilled and experienced lawyer with highly developed leadership and communication skills to undertake this challenging and exciting opportunity.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will manage two direct reports and a team of approximately eleven people.  The Head of the Legal Services, Levy and Registration Department will be a member of the LSRA’s Senior Management Team and will play a key role in strategic planning and delivery. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Be a qualified solicitor or barrister licensed and have at least 6 years of relevant post qualification experience as a legal practitioner, 2.Demonstrate practical experience of managing a diverse range of legal issues including practical experience of presenting cases at court, 3.Have a proven track record as a motivated and effective leader, 4.Ability to lead by example and support teams to achieve strategic outcomes, 5.Demonstrate relevant experience in providing comprehensive legal advice relating to complex legislative issues, litigation and other legal documents, 6.Demonstrate relevant experience and skill in the drafting of regulations, codes of practice and other legal documentation, 7.In-depth knowledge (or the ability to quickly acquire same) of the legal services sector in Ireland and the regulatory issues and challenges relating to that sector, 8.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a track record in the management of relationships with key stakeholders, 9.Confidence to engage and represent the LSRA at public fora and media, 10.Excellent team building and mentoring skills, 11.Strong delegation, time management, planning and prioritisation skills.
