Description

Scope of role: The role of a maintenance fitter involves plant and machinery purchase, installation, maintenance and repairs, replacement of broken or worn parts and servicing. Problem solving also makes up a large component of the role of a fitter.Additionally, we desire a candidate who has a passion for lean manufacturing and is willing to contribute their expertise in all areas of this business as required. We are open to a qualified fitter who would like in time to go on and achieve a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent. General Responsibilities. Always Adheres to safe working practice. Carrying out of servicing / running maintenance of equipment. Removal and replacement of components. Overhauling of components. Carrying out modifications or inspections in accordance with specified instructions. Repair of components/ systems. Keeps his / her work environment clean and organised. Engaging in cross skilling duties where required. Fault-finding and defect rectification. Lean: Responsible for providing some of the data to aid implementation and focus during our lean journey. Candidate will have a key role in assisting to drive lean throughout our manufacturing operation. Competencies: Concern for quality and safe working practices. Ability to read drawings, follow detailed work instructions and procedures. Interest in ensuring quality of work standards are high. Strong attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good numerical ability. Ability to make effective decisions. Ability to analyse and solve problems. Motivated to follow written instructions / guidelines and undertake checks. The ability to work alone and with others without constant or close supervision. Positive, change minded personality. Willingness to travel to inspect potential new equipment, to assist at other company sites if necessary and to benchmark other businesses on occasion. Committed to continuous improvement. Ability to adapt to constantly changing environment. Integrity. Multiple task management is a must in this role. A good understanding of electronics. Educational Standard: FETAC Level 6 accreditation or equivalent including but not limited to Solas (formally FÁS) apprenticeship, City & Guilds apprenticeship or higher. Lean qualification is an advantage. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in industry; Demonstrated ability to work under pressure; Must be computer literate, specifically in MSOffice; Ability to negotiate and deal with external contractors; Experience programming CNC equipment. Reporting structure: The role reports to the Production Manager. Key measures of success: Minimum equipment downtime. Maximisation of machine output.
