Veterinary Inspector
Department Of Agriculture Food And The Marine
Nationwide
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) is a multi-functional organisation which provides a wide range of services both directly and through specialist State Agencies operating under its aegis. Veterinary Inspectors in DAFM provide critical skills and expertise in the areas of animal health and welfare, veterinary public health and food safety. They play a critical role in protecting the human food and animal feed chains and safeguarding the health and welfare of the national herd. They operate as part of, and work within, a broader DAFM multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to promote, support and optimise animal based production in Ireland. Applications are sought from candidates holding a qualification in Veterinary Medicine which is eligible for registration with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI). Successful candidates must be entered on the Register of Veterinary Practitioners held by the VCI prior to being offered a position. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in dealing with the public, good customer skills and experience of working collaboratively and as part of a team. A panel will be formed from which vacancies may be filled in regional locations.
