Business Development Leader – SSB. SSB Short Role Description. - The Business Development Manager Role is responsible for System & Solutions Business (SSB) Sales across EMEA with specific focus on Life Science Industry. - He/she supports and drives the business and its strategic directions in co-ordination with the Local and Industry sales teams. - He/she is also responsible for business development and project pursuit activities for allocated accounts and outside of those covered by existing Local or Industry Sales Teams. - He/she is responsible for managing and driving the development of opportunity funnel and front log with the Local Sales team, while insuring a qualified solutions sales cycle. - He/she acts as commercial front end for the SSB application centers for the Life Science Industry. - He/she supports Local Sales activities to identify and close specific projects as part of the larger project pursuit teams. - Applying the Win Strategy Process and accessing the necessary resources within an Application Center, he/she will increase the ease of doing business for SSB pre-sales activities and order hit rate. Reporting structure: Reporting to the Regional Team Lead or SSB Sales Director, as relevant. Experience required: - Technical degree or similar qualification. - Prior minimum 4-6 years’ sales experience in a technology-based, project delivery organization. - Knowledge about production processes and applications within specified industry(s. - Proven ability in appropriate competencies and project pursuit. - Proven ability to achieve results. - Ability to acquire new business within existing and new customers. Principal duties and responsibilities: Functional / Sales. - Responsible for achieving and exceeding the annual sales target through the maximization of business and project opportunities. - Lead and co-ordinate the efforts of RA resources to win qualified projects. - Co-ordination, where necessary, of Global, Pan-European and In-Country sales and BU resources, initiatives and activities. - Support the development & qualification of SSB projects, markets and sales strategies. - Assist with the evaluation process of a qualified opportunity and represent SSB sales in the bid/no bid decisions as part of the Win Strategy process. - Manage and drive opportunity funnel for the assigned SSB Industry, including monthly and quarterly forecasts. - Proactively create opportunities with Industry & Local Sales team in addition to direct accounts (both In-Country and EMEA), lead and/or assist in driving orders from proposed to close, as needed. - Facilitate and ensure application training to Industry & Local Sales teams. - Handles objections effectively, manages a pipeline of opportunities, and negotiates effectively. Business. - Build effective business relationship with allocated accounts through understanding their organization, developing a business relation with senior management, identifying key decision-makers and understanding their business, strategy and directions. - Develop and implement a customer focused sales strategy based on the Rockwell Automation strategy, and all relevant customers’ information to optimize business opportunities. - Focuses on opportunities that support Rockwell Automation’s market strategy. - Understands business models and how they can used, including the interpretation of financial statements. Leadership. - Overall project coordination. - Share and drive information about new potential accounts & projects with Sales Management for further analysis. - Ability to set and achieve challenging targets for the relevant industry. - Takes initiative in response to changing circumstances within the organisation or markets. - Reports any information relative to competition or market trends, and new competitive product developments to the appropriate resources through standard required reporting formats. - Utilization and up-to-date maintenance of the sales and customer relationship management tools (i.e. Dynamics CRM), optimizing his/her activities by using these tools intensively. - Ensure the right level of business information exchanged within the organization. - Ability to set priorities that maximize orders, revenue and profitability. - Coaches others to improve performance. - Keeps skills and knowledge in all areas (technical and commercial) up to date. Interpersonal. • Collaborate with other Industry or Local Account Managers to define targets for SSB business opportunities in his/her accounts. • Responsible to engage other Industry or Local Account Managers, Commercial Engineers and/or SSB BU in the specific selling approach for certain areas. • Provides timely information to support effective management of the business to all levels. • Excellent communication to foster an open environment. • Identifies key issues from information gathered. • Demonstrates behavior in accordance with Rockwell Automation values. • Acts with highest integrity in all areas. • Ability to motivate others and him/herself.
