The Attorney General is the advisor to the Government in matters of law and legal opinion and provides the State with drafting and legislative services.   Reporting to the Advisory Counsel (Grade I), the Advisory Counsel (Grade III) will assist and advise the Attorney General in carrying out his functions. The role involves specialist advisory work in the fields of domestic, European and International law, participation in the               formulation of legislation and legal policy, representing the State in international fora and advising on the conduct of litigation in which the State is involved. Those appointed may also be required to give legal advice to Government Departments and Offices.   Candidates must be qualified to act as a Barrister or Solicitor in the State and will have significant practising experience in the State including advocacy in a court setting. In addition, s/he must have an ability to analyse complex issues and possess sound judgement skills.
