BER Technical Support Specialist






Fexco Managed Business Solutions and Outsourcing is recruiting for aBER Technical Support Specialist. This role is based in Cahersiveen and is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. The closing date for receipt of applications is the 4th January 2019. Job Profile: The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is the Issuing Authority with responsibility for the administration of the national BER Scheme. FEXCO provides Help Desk and Administration Services to SEAI in support of the BER assessors and auditors. As a specialist member of the Team your role will include provision of technical expertise to enhance the delivery of the BER support service. You will liaise with SEAI management in the management of key projects including: review of iSBEM/SBEM systems; detailed review of all BER Assessor examination content; Conduct reviews and testing of SEAI software (e.g. DEAP) and BER assessor quality assurance processes and analysis. Main Responsibilities: Demonstrating in-depth understanding of the methodology and calculation methods and algorithms used in the software for (DEAP - Lot1, NEAP - Lot 2. Demonstrate expertise in survey methods relevant to all aspects of BER relevant to the appropriate Lot (DEAP - Lot 1/ NEAP – Lot 2. Share competence with iSBEM and one of the SEAI approved software packages. Familiarity with current construction practices and renewable products including a working knowledge of the current Irish Building Regulations (particularly Parts F and L. Utilise experience of on-site Auditing of buildings and general auditing skills. Supporting in the development and modelling of DEAP, iSBEM and SBEM systems. Provide support in the area of the Quality Assurance and Disciplinary procedures. Assisting in the areas of assessor training specifications and examination questions for both Domestic and Non Domestic assessors. Reviewing and updating technical guidelines and manuals to support the assessors. Provide support to BER Helpdesk in relation to technical queries. Provide technical advice on other SEAI programmes as required. Support the development & training of Customer Service Representatives in technical areas. Qualifications/Experience Required: Level 7 or 8 National Framework of Qualifications Award in a building / construction related discipline or equivalent accredited qualification from another EU state in a relevant discipline. Candidate achieved a pass mark of 85% or higher in the non-domestic BER National Examination within the previous two-year period. Possess Project Management skills / Qualifications. Demonstrate relevant experience of up to 3 Projects managed in the past 3-5 years. Be a proactive member of a team. Seek continuous improvement of business processes. Continue personal knowledge and training of technical knowledge. Competencies Required: A strong team player, with demonstrated initiative. Demonstrable personal organisation including the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple demands at any one time. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to read individual styles and adapt accordingly. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
