Financial Controller. My client is a leading general contracting company who are based in Co Galway and have operations in Ireland and the UK. They have over 20 years’ experience successfully completing projects to the highest standard in the commercial, education, residential, leisure, healthcare and industrial sectors. Our client is now seeking a Financial Controller who has experience working in Ireland and the UK, ideally with construction or engineering companies. Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for the finance function. He/she will provide commercial and strategic support to the team and work closely with the MD in the ongoing development of the business. Role Responsibilities: • Budgeting, tax compliance & financial strategies, performance measurement, business planning etc. • Generate financial reporting to produce results and statements for all entities, financial forecasts, significant issues, management accounts. • Manage operations to include transaction processing, contracts, margin analyses, providing information to aid key strategic decision making and formulating business strategies. • Work closely with and advise the senior management team. • Manage accounts including policies and procedures, finance staff, intercompany transactions, payrolls, accounting controls, cash and working capital management. • Aim to optimise financial information systems and improve processes. • Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls. • Advise on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions. • Manage external relationships (Auditors, Banks, Insurance Brokers & Grant Agencies. • Identify new trends and techniques in financial management and related technologies. Skills and Experience Required: • Qualified accountant (ideally Chartered. • UK construction experience a distinct advantage. • Experience in a senior role, supporting a business commercially and strategically. • Must have excellent people and leadership skills. • Experience of exchequer software. • Manage stakeholders and influence when necessary. • Experience in partnering with an executive team and input to strategic direction. • Must have strong commercial sensibility. • Must be solution focussed and innovative. • Hands on and willingness to deal with routine Financial Controller duties as well as the strategic aspects of the role.
