Legal Executive - Compliance. Unijobs on behalf of the University of Limerick have a requirement for a legal executive to work within the Corporate Secretary's division for an initial expected duration of six months. Job Purpose. The successful applicant will work closely with the Information & Compliance Officer/designated Data Protection Officer and other staff with the Corporate Secretary's Office to support Data Protection (DP) requirements. The successful applicant will also support the administration of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. Day to day duties: Assist the Information & Compliance Officer/designated Data Protection Officer in the following areas: Assist with the implementation of the UL Data Protection policy; Assist in the review of reported data incidents/breaches, the implementation of the UL personal data breach procedure, the maintenance of data incident/breach log; Assist with staff data protection queries and data retention queries (including but not limited to queries relating to 3rd party management, DPIAs etc); Support the processing of DP/FOI requests including analysis of requests, engagement with relevant staff, initiation of searches, collation of material, maintenance of request logs and preparation of draft responses; Support the development and delivery of training and awareness material; Assist with the development/update of UL data protection resource information on the UL Data Protection website. This list is not exhaustive but serves to reflect the nature of the duties included in the role. Person Specification. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively on own initiative and in a team environment with a commitment to personal and professional development. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Manage priorities through the use of effective time management. Essential Requirements. Must possess a third level degree or equivalent in a relevant field. 2 years previous experience in a data protection compliance in a regulatory environment or similar role; Knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information; Experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Office packages: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Desirable. Data Protection practitioner certificate. Previous experience of implementation of Data Protection projects and/or Freedom of Information/other compliance projects.
