General Manager 4* Hotel Midlands -New Ownership. Overview of Position: This property has been acquired by an international company where a refurbishment programme wil take place. This property is well supported in the catchment area and is now seeking an experienced GM to reorganise the business, set clear objectives, involved with the refurbishment programme and basically transform it to its former glory. In this role the GM will oversee all aspects of property management in accordance with the company vision including maximisation of financial performance, guest satisfaction and employee development within established quality standards. This is a hands on role covering F&B and Rooms Division. Position may suit a strong Deputy or Operations Manager of 3-5 years' experience . Strong Financial Acumen and Reporting Skills required for this property. Tasks / Accountabilities: Responsible for all aspects of the hotel operation including: guest relations, sales & marketing, front office, accommodation, maintenance, food & beverage, finance and human resources. Work closely with Sales Manager & Financial Controller to create and develop a costed achievable budget for the hotel and a supporting Sales & Marketing Plan, to document how sales will be achieved, and optimise all revenue opportunities for the hotel. Work closely with Financial Controller, Operations Manager & Departmental Managers to control operating expenditure in all areas in line with budgetary expectations, and identify ways to improve the reduction and management of costs. Prepares financial reports for management that clearly explain operational effectiveness, trends and variances. Prepare a weekly forecast for sales and wages for the hotel ensuring that the budgeted wage percentage is not exceeded and taking whatever action is necessary to achieve the same. Work with Financial Controller and departmental managers to ensure the hotel is getting the best value from all suppliers and pricing policy in place to reflect budgeted gross profit levels notably in food and beverage outlets, and taking into account pricing adopted by main competitors. Execute sales, marketing and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel's business plan. Maintains an appropriate level of community public affairs involvement. Create and operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction. Focus on any high profile event to ensure that the necessary planning takes place in order for the event to run smoothly. Consistently review the customer journey to consider what could be implemented to make the guest's stay a special and memorable one whilst always maintaining the hotel standards. Monitor the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction feedback and financial reports. Initiates corrective action when required. Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating Initiates corrective action and provides praise when required. Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established employment regulations. Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures. Establishes and maintains applicable preventative guest maintenance programmes to protect the physical aspects of the hotel. Implements any new legislation affecting the hotel's operations, ensuring the hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws i.e. employment, licensing, food safety practices and any other statutory regulations. Facilitate effective communication between all Departmental Managers through regular one-to-one and team meetings as required. Be able to inspire and motivate all Departmental Managers and employees to ensure there is good team work in the hotel that promotes positive morale.
